Environmental Policy
We limit the environmental impact of our sites, use resources efficiently and build to last.
Purpose
This policy sets out Çelik İnşaat’s environmental commitments. Our overall approach to sustainability and project examples are described on the Sustainability page; this page is the part of that approach that becomes binding rules on site and in design.
Scope
All of our construction sites, offices and design work; work carried out on our behalf by our subcontractors and suppliers.
Our principles

Legal compliance
We comply with Environmental Law No. 2872 and the related regulations, and obtain the required environmental permits before work begins. We accept the polluter-pays principle and take responsibility for the impacts of our sites.

Excavation and construction waste
We separate excavated soil and construction and demolition waste at the source and send it only to licensed facilities, with the documentation required by legislation. We collect hazardous waste separately and hand it over to licensed companies. We aim not to turn reusable and recyclable materials into waste.

Pollution prevention
We limit dust, noise and vibration through site planning and working hours; we store fuel, oil and chemicals so that they cannot contaminate soil or water, and we are prepared for spills and leaks. On sites in densely built-up areas, we look after the living conditions of local residents.

Resource efficiency
We use water, energy and materials with planning and economy; we reduce material waste through accurate quantity take-offs, proper storage and careful workmanship.

Environmental performance of buildings
In the buildings we design, we consider energy efficiency, water savings and durable solutions, and meet the requirements of building energy performance legislation. We support green building certification processes requested by the client at the design and construction stages.

Natural environment and cultural heritage
We protect trees, habitats and water resources within and around site boundaries; we make the notifications required by legislation for cultural assets found during excavation.

Supply chain
We assess environmental compliance in the procurement of materials and services, and expect our subcontractors to comply with this policy.

Monitoring and improvement
We monitor the environmental impacts of our sites and share the lessons of incidents with all of our projects.
Responsibilities
Company management provides resources for our environmental commitments and monitors performance; project managers and site managers apply this policy on site; design teams are responsible for the environmental performance of buildings and the procurement team for supplier criteria. Everyone on site follows the waste segregation and pollution prevention rules.
Implementation and review
This policy is applied in our site practices and procurement decisions; waste is managed with the documentation required by legislation.
