STAR OF BOSPHORUS DATACENTER

Star of Bosphorus Data Center
Turkey’s First Operator-Independent Tier III Certified Data Center: Star of Bosphorus
The Star of Bosphorus Data Center, which is the first ‘operator-independent’ commercial data center in Turkey to have the Uptime Institute Tier III Design and Facility Certification, has a total enclosed area of 45,000 m². The facility, operating with a total energy capacity of 16 MW, will manage over 2,000 standard cabinets in approximately 5,000 m² of white space. The Tier III Facility Certification given by the Uptime Institute certifies that this center provides high service continuity and infrastructure reliability.
Developed with advanced engineering solutions against earthquake risk, the structure is positioned as one of Turkey’s data centers with the highest level of physical security standards. With seismic isolation technologies, optimized architectural design, and strategic infrastructure placement, structural integrity and operational continuity are assured at the highest level.
The data center is planned with a scalable structure consisting of four Data Center Modules (DCM). Each module is equipped with independent infrastructures for power, cooling, fire prevention, and physical security systems. The modules are located in two separate buildings, providing high operational flexibility.
Dedicated office spaces have been allocated for customers to position their IT personnel close to the systems. Additionally, MMR (Meet-Me Room) infrastructure is provided, enabling reliable data connections for telecom operators.
To ensure the highest level of security for businesses with complex IT processes, areas requiring special controls are physically separated from planned operation areas. Security standards are elevated to the highest level by implementing dual-factor authentication and biometric control systems at all access points of the facility.
Seismic Resilience to FEMA Standards: Next-Generation Infrastructure Assurance

Considering Istanbul’s thousands of years of seismic history, earthquake resistance is one of the top priorities in structures built in this region. With this awareness, the Star of Bosphorus Data Center is equipped with advanced seismic isolation systems to maintain operational continuity and secure infrastructure investments in the event of a potential earthquake.
Designed according to DD-1 earthquake ground motion levels in compliance with FEMA standards, this special project holds the distinction of being the first data center built with structural seismic isolation in Turkey. This system, which ensures the protection of the entire building during an earthquake, guarantees uninterrupted data operations by preventing potential service disruptions.
Star of Bosphorus is not just a building; it’s an engineering marvel with high functionality, built with the finest attention to detail according to the specific needs of data centers. Equipment areas, white spaces, user zones, and logistical access requirements have been designed with maximum efficiency in mind; a single-story structure model has been preferred to accommodate all types of equipment loads.
This project, which emerged as a result of high engineering standards and structural design precision, once again proved its leading position in the sector by winning the ‘Best Industrial/Logistic Building’ award at the Sign of the City Awards held in 2019.
New Standard in Data Centers with Multi-Layered Security Architecture
Data security is not limited to antivirus software and firewalls; it requires multi-layered protection physically, digitally, and operationally. Star of Bosphorus Data Center offers an integrated security architecture designed to protect information assets from cyber attacks, vandalism, natural disasters, and potential accidents. Thanks to industry expertise, maximum protection level in data security is ensured.
24/7 security is provided throughout the facility, with access control and monitoring processes carried out by multiple systems and advanced technology-supported equipment. The main security measures applied are:
- Video monitoring systems supported by digital records and meeting PCI-DSS certification standards
- Smart card readers integrated with biometric verification technology
- Physical data protection with secure cabinet and cage systems
- Comprehensive compliance and audit protocols
- Visitor identification and authorization procedures
Tier III and LEED Certified Data Center Offering High Availability
Star of Bosphorus holds the Tier III Design and Facility Certification from the Uptime Institute, an internationally recognized authority in data center performance and operational efficiency. Successfully meeting concurrent sustainable design and operational reliability standards, this certification documents Star of Bosphorus’s commitment to high availability and uninterrupted service. The Tier III standard guarantees that operations continue uninterrupted even in the event of a failure in power, cooling, or energy distribution systems.
The data center holds internationally valid quality and information security management certifications such as ISO 27001:2013, ISO 20000-1:2011, ISO 9001:2011, ISO 9001:2008, and PCI DSS. These documents confirm that our standards in quality, safety, environment, and energy management meet international requirements and that we provide service above customer expectations.
Built with environmental responsibility awareness, Star of Bosphorus is based on the principle of sustainability with its LEED-certified structure. Thanks to its eco-friendly mechanical systems, 10% savings are achieved in active cooling usage; dynamic Diesel Rotary UPS (DRUPS) systems provide a battery-free, environmentally friendly, and highly efficient energy infrastructure.
The data center is a reliable and sustainable technology base that responds to corporate needs with its technical competence, security infrastructure, and environmentally friendly solutions.
Uninterrupted Communication Infrastructure: Carrier-Neutral Data Center Design
Star of Bosphorus offers corporate customers the freedom to work with their preferred telecommunications provider through its carrier-neutral infrastructure model. This flexible structure eliminates service provider dependency, ensuring maximum accessibility and uninterrupted service guarantee in operational processes. System installations are carried out quickly and reliably thanks to the advanced entry infrastructure supported by multiple fiber optic routings. All these features form the basis of the technological freedom offered by the data center.
This infrastructure, set up to high standards, allows the service to continue through other providers in case of any operator-sourced failure or interruption. Thus, the continuity of critical operations and network security is protected without interruption. This structure offers a multi-layered communication security architecture that guarantees business continuity.
Specially designed MMR (Meet-Me Room) areas in the data center allow multiple operators to establish direct connections in isolation from each other. Independent physical spaces have been allocated for each operator. This ensures minimum interaction between transmission lines while maintaining uninterrupted data flow and minimizing delay times. At the same time, this structure offers flexible solutions to the special connection requirements of corporate customers.
The fiber network provides high speed, redundancy, and operational durability thanks to the cabling infrastructure directed to different parts of the building. This system, supported by dedicated transit channels, allows for complete isolation of different operators’ infrastructures from each other. This both reduces the risks of external interference and guarantees high-level information security and system integrity.
This operator-independent infrastructure approach we offer as Star of Bosphorus is supported by a flexible, scalable, and reliable technology architecture that responds to modern data center needs.
