Star of Bosphorus Data Center is the first Uptime Institute Tier III Design & Resort in Turkey certified "operator-independent" commercial data center with 45.000 m2 area and it carries out the operation with 16 MW total power and about 5,000 m2 in the white space for over 2,000 standard cabinets. Uptime Institute Tier III Resort Certificate assures that a unique service level will be provided.

SoB DC is pleased to offer customers the highest degree of physical protected server / hardware hosting facility designed to reduce the risk of earthquakes. Level of protection is provided with the architecture of the building, the overall design of the data center infrastructure and the location of the facility.

The data center has a scalable design with four Data Center Modules (DCM). Each Data Center Module has its own infrastructure with power, cooling, fire prevention and physical security systems. Our facility has an office space for our customers who want to position their IT staff close to their systems. Telecommunication operators have the opportunity to use the MMR ”meet-me room“ areas for reliable data connection.

The data center-connected facilities and data halls are physically positioned separately, and double-factor authentication and biometric controls are applied to manage access to facilities in the data center and planned work to meet the needs of businesses with complex IT business processes.

Istanbul is located in an important earthquake zone based on its thousands of years of seismic history. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure operational continuity with seismic isolation system in a data center that will be established in Istanbul and to protect equipment investment in case of a possible earthquake.
Star of Bosphorus is the first data center in Turkey that is designed to ensure continuity of operation in case of an earthquake based on the correlation of seismic incidents in the last two thousand five hundred years, in accordance with globally-accepted FEMA standards.

With its structural seismic isolation designed to reduce earthquake risk, which is the first in Turkey and one of the few in the world; Star of Bosphorus will protect the entire building against earthquake and eliminate any possible interruptions in case of an earthquake.

Star of Bosphorus has been designed and constructed by considering all requirements for a data center. It has been constructed to serve only as a data center building according to equipment, white spaces, general use areas and the most effective layout plan for entry and exit, and consists of single floor building that is appropriate/suitable for all weight loading.

Security standards and legal compliance provided by the data center that ensures the protection of most valuable assets of companies i.e. data and business continuity are among significant factors to be considered.
Star of Bosphorus is a data center with systems that ensure security of all equipment, team and environment. Star of Bosphorus offers maximum security with the safe deployment of cooling equipment, generator, fuel tanks and access equipment, 24/7 video surveillance and automatic, gaseous fire extinguishing system in all common areas including carpark, loading ramps and building entrances.

The data center is located on a land, where no flood disaster has occurred in the last 100 years, and it is not situated on a fault line, it is free of erosion risk, not close to dam or large water tanks and it is away from high buildings that might collapse in case of an earthquake, and plants and buildings that bear chemical risks. It is located in an area with low crime rate and minimum 1 km away from military facilities, airports, nuclear plants, foreign embassies etc. that might pose a risk for data center operations.

Physical security of the IT equipment of our clients is a top priority for us. We know about the value of planned works as well as special controls to meet the needs of enterprises that have the most sophisticated IT business processes. Therefore, data center-connected facilities and data halls are physically located separate from each other. Double-factor, weighed identity validation and biometric controls are used to manage access to facilities in data center.

Carrier neutrality is critical for data centers.
Star of Bosphorus provides its clients the flexibility to receive service from the required operator thanks to its carrier neutral infrastructure which guarantees the quality of service provided.

Telecom operators quickly configure their systems and get involved in the operation thanks to the advanced infrastructure of Star of Bosphorus that receives service from fiber optic entrance rooms that are routed in different forms.

Star of Bosphorus also provides MMR (meet-me-room) space for telecom operators. Equipment of telecom operator is deployed in data center while cables are deployed in a separate area in the building and at shared access points, in a way that is not accessible by other operators.

Using the latest proven cooling and power distribution technologies, Star of Bosphorus Data Center is designed and run with optimal efficiencies that enable us to offer an average yearly PUE of 1.30 or less. Our innovative data center design is a key way we manage to stay ahead of the market.
Star of Bosphorus has a scalable design with 4 data center modules in two separate buildings. Each module contains 2 data halls; each data center hall operates with its own infrastructure and power, cooling, fire prevention and physical security systems. This modular structure ensures efficient operation of each module on its own and guarantees maximum efficiency with integrated use of best-in-class equipment.

Star of Bosphorus meets the cooling need of the data center only by free cooling in appropriate ambient conditions. This ensures significant power saving in terms of cooling the cabinets which is very important for data centers.

Uninterrupted operation time to be provided by a data center is essential for the continuity of operations. Star of Bosphorus ensures unique level of service with design and facility competencies that are certified by Uptime Institute. It guarantees continuity of operation in case of an earthquake, thanks to the building technology with seismic isolation. It stays ahead of its competitors with 99,982% uptime as a necessity of Tier III design and facility certification.
In today’s world where data security is critical, data loss can cost millions of dollars depending on the size of companies. Star of Bosphorus guarantees operational continuity with detailed approach from the number of personnel, business management, quality of material to suppliers management, and protects data integrity and prevents possible losses with uninterrupted service in case of emergency such as a disaster or power failure.

Total 16 MW power is supported with 2 external power feeds, 2N redundant power supply system and minimum 72 hour fuel storage to ensure continuous operation in case of external power failure.

Location is one of the important factors that should be considered while choosing a data center.
Star of Bosphorus is located within the boundaries of Tuzla Municipality in Anatolian Side of Istanbul, just 30 km away from the city center. The location of data center was chosen based on the important location criteria such as easy access, uninterrupted power supply and distance to risks. Star of Bosphorus is appropriately located for redundant/back-up access and is free from many physical risks because it is located next to Istanbul Tepeören Power Distribution Plant.

This data center with high standards is built on a secure land that is free from erosion risk and away from dam or large water tanks in accordance with all possible natural disasters such as earthquake, flood, storm etc.

LEED certification developed by the US Green Building Council is a globally-accepted rating system that assesses green buildings in terms of design, construction, operation and continuity. LEED-certified buildings that have lower operation expenses reduce energy and water costs up to 40 percent.
